Proxy FAQs
Learn more about your IT IN A BOX® from these Questions and Answers. Proxy Questions A. A Proxy Server is a service running on the IT-100 that caches or stores web page information from the Internet. This lets your users access frequently visited websites without having to wait for an Internet connection each time. A Proxy Server can also be configured to accept or deny connection requests to specific websites. This can be used to prevent users from access sites that are not productive for your company. You must enable Proxy services to use any form of proxy on the IT-100.
Q. What is the Transparent Proxy Server? A. A Proxy Server requires that each client machine be specifically configured to use the proxy server. Transparent Proxy functions for all client computers on your network without having those computers configured to use proxy. This way, sites can be cached, allowed, or blocked for all users on your network without having to configure each of their computers. You must have the Proxy Server on the IT-100 enabled in order to use Transparent Proxy. |
