SQL

SQL stands for Structured Query Language and is a querying and interactive language used to define and manipulate data in relational databases. SQL is pronounced SEE-kwil and was originally developed by IBM in the 1970s. Microsoft has its own version of SQL called MS SQL. See the terms Database and MySQL in this Glossary for more information.
