SMTP

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Email servers such as the one on the IT-100 use the SMTP protocol to send email traffic to other mail servers on the Internet. You can think of SMTP as a language or set of rules that mail servers use to communicate with each other and control email transfers. See POP3 and IMAP in the Glossary for more information.
