PPPoE PPPoE stands for Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet and is a common method used by DSL and Cable Internet providers to allow multiple computers to connect to a single network. The connection between computers on your network and the IT-100 is an Ethernet connection. One of the protocols used for Internet communications is PPP or Point to Point Protocol. PPPoE "encapsulates" PPP traffic in Ethernet packets or frames. Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) require that you enable PPPoE on the IT-100 to allow the device and your network to connect to their routers and to the Internet. PPPoE provides a secure connection by requiring authentication. PPPoE also allows encryption and compression for network traffic.
