POP3

POP3 stands for Post Office Protocol version 3 and is a common method for delivering email to an email client from a mail server. Common email clients are Outlook, Outlook Express, and Eudora. When you use the IT-100 as a mail server, users on your network typically use POP3 as the protocol for retrieving their emails from the server. Typically you should not have to change the configuration of a user's email client so you will only rarely need to be aware of the role of POP3 on your network. Some EmergeCore documentation may reference this protocol when describing how mail services work on the IT-100. See SMTP and IMAP in the Glossary for further information. Also see the Email sections of the FAQs and HOW TOs for additional details.
