NS Record
NS Record stands for a Name Server record. This is the information
that defines which Domain Name
is mapped to which IP
Address. When you configure your
IT-100 to provide DNS services
for your hosted domains, the NS
Records are displayed in the CoreVista
Web®
Interface under the name of the domain
on the DNS page. An example
of an NS Record for a website hosted on the IT-100 would be:
www.domain.net resolves to 192.168.0.1 (this
IT-100)
or
domain.net resolves to 192.168.0.1 (this
IT-100)
When creating websites for domains hosted on your IT-100, you must make
sure to provide the NS Records
for those sites to your ISP. If
your ISP does not have this information, it cannot be sent
to the root DNS servers
on the Internet and your websites
will not be accessible by domain name. NS
records are also displayed for the other
services hosted on the IT-100 that can be accessed from the Internet
such as FTP, Mail,
and Webmail.
