Microsoft Windows Windows is a popular desktop and server operating system created by Microsoft Corporation. It is the successor to MS-DOS. It uses a graphical user interface (GUI) and is characterized by clickable icons, drag and drop file transfer and wizard programs. Windows debuted with Windows 95.
