GUI

GUI stands for Graphical
User Interface and is a common human-computer
interface type used almost universally on today's PCs
and laptops. Microsoft
Windows is the GUI most people are familiar with. GUIs are characterized
by desktop icons, menus,
and dialogue boxes. Users are
able to execute programs and access application software by "double-clicking" the appropriate
icon or applet.
This is opposed to working on a command-line
interface (CLI) that requires the user to type in sometimes long
and complicated text strings to
achieve the same goals. The IT-100
has a GUI referred to as CoreVista Web®. See
the term CoreVista Web in this
glossary for more information.
