FAT32 Fat32 is a computer file system that is common on a Windows computer. FAT stands for File Allocation Table. A table is what the operating system uses to locate files on a computer's hard drive. FAT16 became available starting with Windows 95 and FAT32 started use with Windows 98. FAT16 used 16 bits to address clusters to keep track of files on your system. FAT32 uses 32 bits.
