Ethernet

The term Ethernet describes the most common method of LAN Networking. Ethernet uses specialized types of cable with CAT 5 being the most common type, using connectors called RJ45s at each end of the cable. RJ45 connectors resemble telephone jack connectors but they are slightly larger. The back of the IT-100 has one RJ45 port for the WAN connection and four RJ45 connectors for the LAN connection. Each computer you use on your network will have a Network Interface Card or NIC installed. The RJ45 port is usually located on the back of the computer and you typically connect one end of the cable to the computer using this port and the other end is connected to one of the LAN ports.
