Console Session

A Console Session, also called a Terminal Session, is an active link between a one computing device and another either over a direct serial link or a remote link. Using a serial link, the two devices are typically connected by their serial ports using a null modem cable and using the HyperTerminal utility. During the session, you can access a central menu for a device such as a router or switch and configure it without using a GUI interface. See the terms GUI, HyperTerminal, Null Modem Cable, Router, Serial Port, and Switch in this glossary for more information.
