Antivirus

Antivirus is a type of software that runs on computers and servers and protects those devices and the network from malicious software that can be encountered. A virus can be considered any type of software that is written to take some type of control of a computer or to disable a computing device. Viruses most commonly enter a network as an email attachment but a virus can also be delivered when someone on a computer visits certain websites or when they download apparently benign programs from the Internet. Antivirus software contains "definitions" or "footprints" of thousands of different forms of viruses. When antivirus software recognizes a virus as it enters the system, it is designed to alert the user and to isolate the virus. As new viruses are written, antivirus definitions are also written and must regularly be updated on your computers to provide maximum protection.
