How To Create a Local Supervisor User

A Local Supervisor is a type of user that has the authority to administer day-to-day operations on the IT-100 including the features and services for any domain you assign them to be able to administer. Starting in version 3.30 of CoreVista Web, you can create an any type of user including a Local Supervisor User on the IT-100 independently of the domains hosted on the device. Previously, you needed to create a user in the Domains folder in the left-hand sidebar menu. Now, to create a user, you can do so by accessing the new Users folder in the menu. This allows you the ability to link a new user account to more than one domain, configure rights and permissions for a user based on their role in your organization, configure email and email aliases, configure wireless access for the user and many other features. To create an Local Supervisor:

  1. Go to CoreVista Web

  2. Click Users in the left-hand sidebar menu

  • The main Users page appears

  1. Click ADD in the upper right-hand corner of the Users box

  • The Create a User wizard launches

  1. Type the user's complete name in the Full Name field

  2. Type the user's login name in the Login Name field

  3. Type the user's password in the Password field

  4. Type the user's password again in the Confirm Password field

 

How To Configure User Type

 

  1. Click the drop down menu beside User Permissions Template and select Local Supervisor

  • Note: Local Supervisor is a pre-configured user template on the IT-100. Other pre-configured templates are Domain Supervisor, End User, and Master Administrator (Manager). You can also select Custom Template to create a unique, custom-made user template on the IT-100

  1. Click Next

 

How to Configure User Email

 

  • The E-Mail Domains box appears

  1. Check any of the available checkboxes to select at which domains the user will receive email

  2. Click Next

  • The Configure E-Mail box appears

  1. Select the size of the user's E-mailbox size using the Mailbox size drop down menu

  • Note: the default mailbox size is 10 MB but you can select a range from 5 MB to Unlimited

  1. (Optional) To select the optional E-Mail Alias for the user, type the email alias in the Add Alias field

  2. Click Add Alias

  • Note: An email alias is an alternate email address for the user at the same domain. For example, user Robert Smith has the email address of rsmith@domain.com but since he might also be known as Bob Smith, you can give him an alias of bsmith@domain.com. In the Add Alias field only type in the user's name and not the domain name. An example of this would be bsmith

  1. (Optional) To add an automatic Forward or CC to emails sent to this user, type the full email address where mail is to be forwarded or CCed in the Add Forward field

  2. Click Add Forward

  3. If you want mail to continue to be delivered to the user's local account if you've set up optional forwarding, click the Yes radio button under Deliver mail locally when forward exists?

  4. Click Next

 

How to Configure a Wireless User

 

  • Wireless User Authentication box appears

  1. Type the number of hours you want the wireless user to be connected to the wireless network in the Time Alloted to this Account: field.

  • Note:  if you want the user's wireless connection to never time out, type 0 (zero) in the field

  1. Type the number of days you want to pass before the user's wireless account renews in the Renew Account Every: field

  • Note, when the wireless account renews, the number of hours the user has to remain connected to the wireless network is reset to the maximum amount. If you never want the account to renew, type 0 (zero) in the field

  1. Click Next

 

How to Configure a Local Supervisor

 

  • The Setup Domain Admin box appears

  1. To allow this user access to all domains, click the I want this user to have access to all domains radio button

  • or

  1. To select which domains hosted on the IT-100 that you want his user to be able to have access, click I want to choose the domains this user has access to radio button

  • Note: if you click I want to choose the domains this user has access to radio button, all of the domain names hosted by the IT-100 appear below that selections. Check the checkboxes of the domain(s) you want this user to be able to administer.

  • Note: Once you check one or more domains under this selection, checkboxes for DNS, E-Mail, and Web will appear. Check the checkboxes for any of the domain services you want this user to be able to administer

  1. Click Next

  • The Confirm User box appears so you can verify your selections

  1. Click Finish

  • Note: You are taken back to the main Users page and your new Local Supervisor appears in the Users box.

  • Note: you can modify any existing user's settings by clicking the Edit pencil symbol by that user's name. This will run the wizard again for this user and you can modify your selections. You can also delete any user account by clicking the Delete trash can symbol by the user's name. You can create another user by clicking the ADD button and running the wizard again.
