How To Create a Brand New Custom User Template

You can create users with four pre-configured
user templates on the IT-100; End
User, Domain Supervisor,
Local Supervisor, and Master
Administrator (Manager). While you can modify the permissions a
user has either at the time you create the user or at any time afterwards,
it is also sometimes helpful to have the ability to create a brand new
standard user permissions template. With this feature, you can create
as many standard user templates as there are roles on your business network.
After you create a new standard user
template, you can use it to create users just exactly in the same
way you use the default pre-configured
templates on the IT-100. For additional
information on the four pre-configured
user templates, please see the HOW
TOs for each of those user templates. To create a brand new custom
user template:
Go to CoreVista
Web
Click Users
in the left-hand sidebar menu
Click User Templates
under the Users folder
Click ADD
in the upper right-hand corner of the User
Templates box
The Create a
User Template box appears
Note: none of the check boxes for any of the services
or features under either User Services
or User Administration Rights
are checked. You have complete freedom as to which user permissions to
apply to this new template
Note: User Services
are the services you want a user to be able to access. These include being
able to use email and filesharing. User
Administration Rights are assigned to a user you want to administer
features and services on the IT-100
Type the name of the new user template in the
Template Title field near the
top of the Create User Template box
Note: you can
name the new template anything but it is helpful
to give it a name that relates to the role users
with this set of permissions are going to take on your network.
For example, you can name it Wireless Network Administrator if the template
is to be configured with rights to administer your wireless network.
Check the combination
of check boxes next to the features and services you want this
user template to be able to access and administer.
Click Submit
The page refreshes and you are taken back to the
User Templates page. Your new
standard user template now appears in the list in the User
Templates box.
Note: You can edit
your new template or any other template in the User Templates box by clicking
on the Edit pencil symbol by the
template name. You can delete
any template in the User Templates box by clicking on the Delete
trash can symbol by the template name.
